In this modern society, energy is indispensable; it powers almost everything we use.The energy industry is undergoing an unparalleled transformation which is directly associated with the uptake of renewable energy. Renewable energy (or green energy) is energy derived from natural sources that are naturally and constantly replenished at a higher rate than they are consumed. It is energy that comes from a source that will not run out. It is natural and self-replenishing and usually has a low- or zero-carbon footprint. It includes hydroelectric power, solar energy, wind energy, fuel cells, geothermal energy, and biomass energy. Renewable energy sources are plentiful and all around us. Renewable energy is a rapidly growing industry with immense potential. This paper presents an overview of renewable energy.
